Inland Empire Winter

Found myself out in Claremont today — a place we have some history with (more on that another day). It was rainy and cold, a SoCal combo you don’t get often. By early afternoon the rain clouds were breaking but in the mountains it was still menacingly dark — to the south and east — the sky was that typical sunshine-splashed blue. As the sun shone into the darkness of the mountains, you could see the snow up on Glendora ridge and Sunset peak — making an amazing array of hues, tints and visualizations. As the sunshine hit the snow, the black-blanketed-sky behind it, a massive crackle of lightning split the scene. Halted me in my tracks. It was a photo moment of the century — I hope some well-equipt skilled photog got the shot. It was a magical, memorable moment from Mother Nature’s artistic palette.
